If you want to know the real truth about your decorating style, a piece of furniture you’re unsure of or the paint color you think you can’t live without, just ask Dwayne Anderson for his opinion. He will have one; and, he doesn’t mind at all to tell you. He has a distinct gift to be honest in a way that doesn’t offend and quickly offers the best solution to any decorating dilemma. . . just ask any one of the hundred’s of ‘decorating groupies’ who have followed him all over Lexington throughout his exciting design career.

Prior to making The Corman Marketplace his design base, Dwayne’s tenure in the retail setting began in a non-traditional way with a B.A. in Accounting and Management. Realizing that his innate style and design sensibility were more reflective of his desired career path, he combined them with his business background and, at the age of 21, opened his own home décor business in the Lexington Mall. Thus beginning the strong following he has developed over the years and the solid and sincere connection he has with many Lexingtonians who regularly frequent The Corman Marketplace today.

The Lexington Mall store was an immediate success where he and his wife, Kathryn, his high school sweetheart, developed the precursor of the many home décor stores now all over the region. After a decade of owning a thriving business, Dwayne decided to move on to other venues. He evolved as one of the most widely-known and beloved designers around town. For the past 15 years, Dwayne has been sharing this personality and passion with people through his design talent expressed in homes all over the country.

As a significant asset to the talented design group who call Corman’s home, Dwayne has been instrumental in developing the Commercial Christmas division. He brings the freshness of his own personality to such businesses as international building company, Gray Construction; elite jeweler Sheila Bayes, and the more than 30 branches of Central Bank.

He is self-described as “traditional meets silver,” in his design approach. If you like anything old with a sense of history, he wants to meet you. With all the Southern charm and warmth he possesses, he will transform any surrounding so that it exudes the patina similar to a favorite tea service, much like the impeccable design sensibility of, oh, let’s say, without exaggerating, Ralph Lauren. But, then, like the hundreds of people he’s touched, we’re just a bit partial to both his warm personality and his passion for design.
