I am always trying to find a creative solution in a party without have to buy a thousand different things to make it perfect!

A few years ago Tina McMahan, a client of mine, was throwing a high school graduation party for her daughter. The time of the year, early Spring in Kentucky, set the tone for the event.

The idea started with a general wish list. Bright colors with a garden theme. Gerber daisies for a fun youthful feel was the flower of choice. I used the gerber in every color of abundance. I went "shopping around the house a few weeks prior to the party and found a galvanized watering can, some small galvenized buckets, and some simple glass that were the containers of choice. Next I brought in wonderful 100 year old bricks and used them as risers for the food as well as themed props.

Inexpensive clay pots were introduced in many different sizes. I used the small pots to hold cuttlery. Medium sized pots served various jobs. One such job was by holding house dips and fresh vegetables. A quick trick to this is to line these pots with aluminum foil to hold and protect whatever food you would like to place inside. I also used other clay pots by turning them upside down as well to be used as risers for food, floral arrangments, etc. The larger pots were artfully filled with bright floral napkins.

Food choices for the event was light in flavor. Benedictine with it's fresh green color ans soft flavor is always a great choice!

Cucumber sandwiches sliced very thin are a great hit! Click here for our recipe!

An easy and happy food is dipping pretzels into white chocolate and sprinkling pink sugar crystals onto the chocolate.

Items you might need for this event:
Bricks - Claypots - Watering Cans - Gerber Daisies - Glass Vases

Many thanks,

Dwayne
